A ceasefire between Station Casinos and the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 probably will bring about the unionization of this Palace Station in downtown Las Vegas.
Palace Station’s owner Station Casinos was accused of attempting to influence an election of its workers by indirectly threatening them with health care premium cuts.
It is not that Station has instantly changed its long-held anti-union stance; rather, the company has been forced into an embarrassing climb down, having been accused of rigging an employees’ election, possibly in violation of the National Labor Relations Act.
This week, the company decided to settle a labor that is unfair complaint filed to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) by the union. Facility was criticized by the NLRB for allegedly interfering with the election, held final October.
‘Rather than participate in lengthy, disruptive and distracting procedures, the organization has decided that it would take its most useful interests to proceed with negotiations with the union because the collective bargaining representative at Palace facility for the eligible bargaining unit associates at that property,’ said Station in a formal statement.
Station Casinos added so it shall stop fighting Local 226’s attempt to unionize the property and proceed with negotiations.
